The game has a rich history that dates back 1,500 to 2,000 years B.P. According to our research, it bears striking similarities to our modern version of Snakes and Ladders, making it perhaps the oldest known game of its kind. Throughout the centuries, the game has been known by various titles such as Leela, Gyan Chauper, Snakes, and Ladders, among others. There are also numerous variations in the rules and interpretations of the game.

Our mission is to honor the ancient origins of this game and approach it with scientific methods rooted in psychology. While the game originally had religious undertones like many spiritual practices of the past, we have endeavored to remove the religious language and specific Hindu names, focusing instead on its universal human values. The result is a remarkable mental exercise that aids individuals in gaining self-understanding.

We want to emphasize our belief that religious knowledge and values represent the timeless wisdom of humankind—an accumulation of legends that have absorbed knowledge and wisdom from countless generations and diverse cultures around the world. The game itself is incredibly straightforward. It features a playing field with 68 to 124 cells depending on the version. Ladders or arrows lift players up while snakes bring them down. Interestingly, each cell typically holds a specific meaning or instruction that adds depth to the game. For example, in the well-known English version of Snakes and Ladders, Hindu philosophical ideas have been replaced with Puritan values characteristic of Victorian England.

In our version of the game, there are 72 cells in total. The game commences at square 68 and concludes there as well. It typically takes around 30-50 moves to complete a game. Before initiating play, players are encouraged to ask a question, formulate a problem, or establish their key objective. We firmly believe that this step is crucial, as the mere act of framing their query serves as a valuable psychological practice in its own right.
